Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S)
The Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S) is a group of regulatory authorities and pharmaceutical inspection organizations from around the world that work together to develop and promote good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards for pharmaceuticals. PIC/S was established in 1995 and has over 50 members, including the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The organization provides guidance and training to its members to help them ensure that pharmaceuticals are produced to a high standard of quality and safety. PIC/S also facilitates mutual recognition agreements between regulatory authorities, allowing pharmaceutical manufacturers to export their products to other countries without undergoing multiple inspections.
